The DMVicious Guide to Firefly Festival: Friday Edition
The DMVicious Guide to Firefly Festival: Friday | Saturday | Sunday
In anticipation of the Mid-Atlantic’s largest outdoor music festival, DMVicious has decided to bless you with our wisdom on which Firefly Festival artists are worth seeing. Every Wednesday leading up to the festival, we will give you a little glimpse at what our itinerary looks like for each day. We will also include a video of each band performing live so you know what to expect–gosh, we are so thoughtful!
Today, we give you the rundown on Friday’s schedule. Oh Friday, you son of a bitch. Of the three days, this one has far more tough calls than the others. On a more positive note, two rappers from our Hottest MCs of 2013 list are performing on Friday (Also, the guy who topped that list is performing Saturday). Anyway, here’s what we came up with:
Budweiser Made In America 2013: Complete lineup
Jay-Z and Budweiser began slowly announcing this year’s lineup at 12 p.m. via Spotify. All the artists have now been announced. Made In America managed to score a couple big-ticket acts that are otherwise absent on the festival circuit this year: Beyonce, Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5 and Wiz Khalifa.
Other highlights include: Phoenix, Calvin Harris, Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay-Rock), A$AP Rocky, Queens of the Stone Age, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Solange, 2 Chainz, Imagine Dragons, Walk the Moon, Fitz and the Tantrums, Haim, Feed Me, Public Enemy, Nero, Alunageorge and more.
With Queen Bey headlining the festival, and Jay-z curating the lineup, you can probably bank on a HOV sighting at some point as well.
The festival will return to Philadelphia, August 31-September 1.
Best Bets: Concerts you should probably check out
Yes, we are a day late. Sorry kids. Lucky for you, there is still a lot going on this week. We’d like to draw special attention to The DC Emerging Artists Super Sampler, Vol 1 on Saturday. BYT and the Hamilton Live are co-sponsoring a showcase that will feature a ton of a great local talent, including: Shark Week, Uno Hype, Black Hills, Ra the MC, Kid Named Breezy, Drop Electric and more.
Also, we’d like to point out the foreboding nature of Diarrhea Planet playing a Mexican restaurant. Just saying…
- Tues. 4/2 – Iamdynamite & the Virginmarys @ DC9, Washington, D.C.
- Wed. 4/3 – Diarrhea Planet @ Casa Fiesta, Washington, D.C.
- Thurs. 4/4 – Chelsea Light Moving @ Black Cat, Washington, D.C.
