This ‘Royals’ mash-up is pretty close to perfect

I’ve been waiting for the inevitable onslaught of Lorde remixes and mash-ups to start rolling in. Rick Ross recently released his remix of “Royals,” but DJ Mike Biggz’ mash-up of “Royals” and M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” is amazing.

Diplo’s production still feels as current as it did when “Paper Planes” came out six years ago. Something about the anti-luxury tones of the two songs really match up well too. Check it out below.

New Music: M.I.A. – ‘Y.A.L.A.’

The Sri Lankan queen of dance music has released a new track off her forthcoming album, Matangi. “Y.A.L.A.” is a typically bass-heavy banger that sounds similar to the Diplo-produced tracks that helped launch M.I.A. to international stardom.

The song is a pro-reincarnation rebuttal to Drake’s “Y.O.L.O.” suggesting that “You Always Live Again.”

Listen to M.I.A.’s new track, “Bring The Noize”

M.I.A.’s long-awaited album, Matangi, seems a little bit closer to fruition. Monday, the Sri Lankan rave-rap superstar released a new track called, “Bring The Noize.” The track sounds a lot more like her first two albums, and that is a good sign. Listen to the track below and let us know what you think.

M.I.A. Is Back!

MIA-bedroom The elusive Sri Lankan provocateur has released “MATANGI Mix For Kenzo,” an eight-minute track heavy on the world music influences that made her early work so interesting.

It is a fantastic dance track, but those looking for another radio-banger a la “Paper Planes” will be disappointed. M.I.A.’s voice does not emerge until 5:14 into the song.

Whenever M.I.A. unveils new music it is usually a pretty elaborate event. For instance, check out the webpage dedicated to this track.
